Moon over Portugal

Does moonlight always look so good?  Or is it just the Portuguese mood that gives it added abilities to inspire? We all look better in the moonlight.  We all feel like the world is at our feet.  The moon rises, shins, and sometimes, lingers throughout the day to give us just a little bit more of the night.

Here, there pink hue of the moon, casting its rays over the old buildings full of people going to bed, having dinner, arguing, laughing, drinking, bathing, viewing, listening, reading, thinking and going about their business.

Ode to Mérida

Falling into these small towns and petite cities that lay on the charm in their own unique Spanish way gave me the impression that I was being wooed by a beautiful woman, who might have some intentions that I didn’t know about.

Mérida I’m falling for you.

Mérida was a place I had never thought of going to — it didn’t even register on my radar.  But the bright sunny day we spent there, with a warm evening out eating and drinking, gave me the impression that, yes, I could stay here for awhile.

Mérida, the sly and seductive one.

Each place, with its own personal feeling that it expels.  Spain gave off an aura of indifference.  Because it knows how good it is.  It knows how amazing its food can be.  It knows that people come there for their holidays, but leave with life changing experiences.

Spain knows.  Mérida knows.

Guadiana River, Merida

There she isLook at here, she knows exactly what she is doing.
She is looking at the tram, thinking “where was it I was going?
“To buy a new hat? To get more lipstick? Because I do have that date tonight
With a tall dark stranger”.  She like Pastis de Belem, but only on Sunday’s, and only two,
Because they come nicely in packs of two, with a coffee, which she has daily, because, of course
She is Portuguese.
